PDF: How to Make a Comb Back Writing Arm Chair (digital download)
PDF detailed rendering of Curtis's Writing Arm Chair. The eight pages include a contour map of the seat carving, the turnings, two half scale elevation pages with a left and a right side view, a front view and a top view, four template pages with the seat template. There is also a QR code on the seat contour page that will take you to a 3D viewer where the chair can be viewed at any angle.
Plans for this chair first came to me in the early 1990s through Dave Wright https://www.wrightwindsors.com/. Dave was making chairs in Berea, Kentucky at the time and had access to the Wallace Nutting collection owned by Berea College. This current chair design is the result of over 30 years of changes, but still retains the overall character of Nutting's original.
I have been perfecting my plans for 40 years and I make my living from them. Thank you for not sharing these digital files. Enjoy!
